I started BirchBaby whilst I was pregnant with my first child. I began researching all the things I would need for our home. What I found surprised me. Every other baby product has been redesigned, developed and improved aesthetically over the years, yet baby gates seem stuck in the 90s!

With a background in set design for film and television, I’ve always cared deeply about how spaces feel and flow. I couldn’t bring myself to install something so out of place.

I wanted a gate that was, of course, safe - but also calm, beautiful, and in tune with the rest of our home. BirchBaby began from that simple belief: safety and good design shouldn’t be mutually exclusive.

My philosophy is straightforward: safety is the non-negotiable foundation. From there, I design with the same level of care and aesthetic consideration that parents give to the rest of their interiors. I saw a gap between low-cost functional gates and bespoke alternatives that prioritised aesthetics over tested safety. BirchBaby was designed to offer both - without compromise.

The result is a gate that protects what matters most, whilst quietly complimenting the home you love.
